Seminary Summary
Crown Seminary is a ministry of Temple Baptist Church in Powell, TN. It is distinct from Crown College, offering further biblical training and ministry experience. It consists of four different degrees: the Master of Ministry, Master of Missiology, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Both men and women are accepted in the seminary; however, ladies will receive the Master of Missiology degree (and take its corresponding courses) as opposed to the Master of Ministry degree.

The Seminary is divided into two main divisions: The School of Extended Studies and the Campus Classes. The former is an intense correspondence course designed to train those who are already in the ministry full-time without leaving their place of service. The latter has the same coursework, but also the opportunity of sitting under Pastor Clarence Sexton for weekly lectures, discussion, question and answer sessions and group projects.

Many students are very encouraged by what they have learned of their place in the Lord’s work at Crown Seminary. We sincerely hope you will prayerfully consider this opportunity.

Seminary Philosophy
“We often study doctrines out of a book, and refer at different points to the Bible. Who is that leaving out? How should we learn about doctrine? From the Bible.

What must we always remember when we are learning about doctrine? That we are learning about who God is! Rather than learning about theology from a book, learn from God revealing Himself in the Bible. (Think of the Psalms. Think how much a good study in that book reveals God to us, and our relation to Him.)

I hope you understand this: that you cannot separate God from any book of the Bible, and you should not separate any book of the Bible—any part of it—from how it relates to us. All of the Bible is God revealing Himself, but remember that He is not just revealing Himself; He is revealing Himself to us. There is a purpose for Him revealing Himself: He wants us to know Him.”
