The Master of Missiology degree is
an enlargement of the Master of Ministry degree. Both men and women can earn this degree. The degree includes two pastoral courses for
the men. Students who take the classes
on campus may additionally take TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other
Languages).
The courses in the program
include:
BI 501 Advanced Old Testament (3 Credits)
An in-depth study of the progressive revelation of God and His redemptive
plan, underscoring the Old Testament foundation for New Testament doctrine, from
Genesis through the Prophets. Prerequisite: The student must listen to the
audio series entitled Take the High Road. Notes from these lectures must be
typed and received by the seminary.
BI 502 Advanced New Testament (3 Credits)
A continuation of the thorough examination of God’s revelation of Himself and
His plan of redemption, giving attention to authorship, date, purpose, and
content.
BI 564 Principles of Biblical Interpretation (3 Credits)
The principles of biblical interpretation practically applied in preaching and
teaching. Emphasis is given to theological, historical, cultural, grammatical,
and literary aspects of interpretation. Included are specific topics such as
typology, prophecy, figures of speech, miracles and parables.
ED 545 Baptist Distinctives and History of the Church (3 Credits)
A detailed study, discussing issues such as biblical separation, the definition
of fundamentalism as biblical Christianity, and the authority of Scripture
applying to polity. Emphasis is also given to the lives of those men who have
made great contributions to the movement.
CM 561 Teaching and Preaching the Bible (3 Credits)
A thorough treatment of the preparation of Bible messages from birth to
delivery. Emphasis is placed on the preacher’s vision of God, his ability to
support a biblical thesis, and his carefulness to press for a biblical verdict.
CM 572 Pastoring the New Testament Church
(3 Credits) [Men Only]
A detailed examination of the life and work of the pastor as patterned in God’s
Word. Emphasis is placed on the Pastoral Epistles.
CM 521 The Life & Ministry of Spurgeon (3 Credits)
A comprehensive look at the life and ministry of the “Prince of Preachers.”
Special attention will be given to the New Testament pattern his ministry
followed, and to the impact Spurgeon made on his generation and the generations
that have followed.
CM 599 Theological Research and Thesis (3 Credits)
A theological doctrine researched and written on an approved topic. The
subjects addressed during this program will provide valuable tools the student
will use to complete the assignment. This written work will be presented in
sermonic form.
CM 581 Ministry Internship and Experience
Credit is extended to pastors and
Christian workers for their ministry in the local church by means of a written
report of their service and completion of the . For students who lack ministry
experience, a supervised internship is required, as well as completion of the
curriculum.
CM 511 The Pastors’ College (3 Credits) [Men Only]
A biblical view of the life and
ministry of the local New Testament church, including such issues as the home,
the devotional and prayer life, personal soul winning, the preaching ministry,
the Sunday School, Christ-honoring music, and Christian education.
MI 520
Role of the Local Church in World
Evangelism (3 Credits)
A study of the local church’s responsibility to evangelize
the world through the biblical message and methods. Emphasis is placed on
evangelizing the lost, establishing churches, edifying the converts, and entrusting
them the Lord.
MI 525 Role of the New Testament Missionary (3
Credits)
An analytical study of the pattern set forth by the Apostle
Paul as our missionary example. Included is an analysis of historical
missionary methodology.
